Indonesia Aims Higher at ASEAN Tourism Forum

The Indonesian government has taken part in the ASEAN Tourism Forum 2025 in Johor Bahru, Malaysia. The event was held from January 15 to 20, 2024, as part of efforts to promote high-quality tourism in the region.

The participation of Indonesia in the forum aims to strengthen collaboration with other ASEAN member countries. The forum serves as a platform for ASEAN countries to work together in promoting tourism in the region. This year’s theme is “Unity in Motion: Shaping ASEAN’s Tourism Tomorrow.”

The forum is a strategic opportunity for Indonesia to showcase its natural and cultural heritage and to foster beneficial regional cooperation. It also allows the country to enhance its role in the global tourism arena.

During the forum, a meeting took place between the Indonesian minister of tourism and the South Korean minister of culture, sports, and tourism. They discussed ways to strengthen tourism collaboration between the two countries. The potential tourism collaborations were discussed under the ASEAN-ROK Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

The discussions included joint tourism promotion to increase public interest in various destinations and attractions in both countries. More meetings are scheduled to take place during the forum, with representatives from various countries, to discuss programs that aim to advance the tourism and economic sectors in Indonesia and the Southeast Asian region.
