New Delhi: Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto arrived in New Delhi on Friday night for his first state visit to India. He was received by the Minister of State for External Affairs, Pabitra Margherita, at the airport. President Subianto, who will be in India from January 23 to 26, is set to be the Chief Guest at India’s 76th Republic Day celebrations.

The Ministry of External Affairs stated that this visit aims to further bolster the India-Indonesia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. The visit is important in strengthening bilateral ties between the two nations.

President Subianto’s visit will focus on enhancing strategic cooperation in key sectors such as security, maritime affairs, and digital technology. After concluding his agenda in India, he will visit Malaysia at the invitation of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Ibrahim and Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.

During his visit, President Subianto will meet with President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, and Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar.

Key events during the visit include a ceremonial reception at Rashtrapati Bhavan on January 25, followed by a wreath-laying ceremony at Rajghat. The President will also engage in high-level meetings with Prime Minister Modi, including discussions on new agreements and collaborations.

Notably, this year’s Republic Day parade will feature a 352-member Indonesian marching and band contingent, marking the first time such a contingent will participate in a national day parade abroad.

President Subianto’s visit reflects the growing partnership between India and Indonesia, with significant focus on maritime cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region.
