Malaysians Flock To Japan In Record Numbers

Malaysian tourist arrivals in Japan have surged by 21.9% year-on-year, reaching 506,800 in 2024 compared to 415,712 in 2023. The number of visitors from Malaysia to Japan has increased significantly over the past year.

In December 2024 alone, the number of visitors increased by 17.8%, with 71,600 Malaysians visiting compared to 60,806 in December 2023. This shows a steady increase in the number of Malaysian tourists traveling to Japan.

The surge in visitors to Japan can be attributed to several factors, including the strengthening of the Ringgit against the Japanese Yen and Japan’s unique allure for Malaysian travellers. The introduction of chartered flights from Malaysia to the Tohoku region in 2022 has also contributed to this increase in tourism.
