Langkawi Development Authority will be hosting Routes Asia 2024
In an attempt to facilitate conversations between industry players to continue rebuilding route network across the region and drive future market growth, Langkawi Development Authority (LADA) will be hosting Routes Asia 2024 alongside Malaysia Airports Holding Berhad (MAHB) and Tourism Malaysia from 3 to 5 March 2024. Having officially won the bid to host on the 14th of January 2020, pandemic restrictions meant LADA had to hold off on hosting the event. However, the time has come as LADA will be handed the hosting rights at Routes Asia 2023, which will be taking place in Chiang Mai, Thailand from 14 to 16 February 2023.
With regards to the announcement, LADA Deputy Chief Executive Officer Tuan Haji Ahmad Fuad bin Che Ani @ Abd Ghani said, “We are proud to be the host of such a prestigious event and to be given this unique opportunity to be collaborating with Malaysia Airports Holding Berhad (MAHB) and Tourism Malaysia. This event is a real testament of how far we have come and we would like to thank the organisers of Routes Asia for entrusting us with the responsibility of hosting this event. We hope this event will provide us with the platform to showcase the majestic beauty of Langkawi and all that it has to offer to visitors from around the world”.
At the Routes Asia event, participants will have the chance to be part of a comprehensive event programme with face to face meetings and unmissable networking opportunities, enabling them to gain complete industry insights and more. This event produces a chance for the region’s airlines, airports, tourism authorities and aviation stakeholders to unite and discuss network strategies in hopes of stimulating air connectivity across the Asian Pacific region.
During last year’s edition in Da Nang, Vietnam, a total of 550 local and international delegates of 194 organizations, including 81 airlines, 79 airports, 11 destinations and 23 aviation service providers from Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and North America registered to take part. This number is predicted to substantially increase over the coming years.
“We look forward to hosting masterminds of the airport, airline and tourism industries from all across the globe. The exchanging of thoughts and ideas from these esteemed individuals can serve as a masterclass in education for all of us. We will be well prepared by this time next year to give these industry players a platform to connect and showcase their brilliance in executing strategies for the future of the air service industry across Asia Pacific,” added Tuan Haji Ahmad Fuad.
One of the many reasons behind why LADA, MAHB and Tourism Malaysia was chosen to host Routes Asia 2024 is in relation to the past successes in the Airport Service Quality (ASQ) survey. ASQ is a global survey by Airports Council International (ACI) that measures overall passenger satisfaction for terminal safety, facilities, services, and cleanliness. For the third quarter in 2022, Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) and Langkawi International Airport (LGK) retained their positions as the world’s best airport. Both airports achieved perfect scores of 5.00 respectively in the survey.
As the airline and tourism industry remerges from the ashes of the COVID-19 cloud, the partnership between these industries have never been more crucial. The Routes Asia event celebrates this coalition and highlights the importance of these industries coming together. With this, LADA hopes to emphasize and lead the way forward within the route development community in what is predicted to be a memorable Routes Asia 2024.
Routes Asia 2023 will be held in Chiang Mai, Thailand from 14-16 February 2023 where LADA will be present as they are handed over the reins to host the event next year.
